I rated this is a two star instead of one because I believe in the neighborhood bike shop, the shop guys are nice and they offer good winter service deals.
My friend Scott raves about Erik 'a service and he is right!
Beware of the service team's pushy up-selling techniques.
The front of the house team members are always pretty good. I have a very hard time with the service department. I took my tri bike in for the front brake rubbing. He starts checking everything else and states there's two more things wrong. Seriously, don't upsell me when I'm telling you exactly what's wrong with my bike. Just because I don't know how to fix my bike doesn't mean I don't know it. I literally said my front brake is rubbing and just need that fixed. Now I get my bike back and there's missing parts! Not any parts to effect the functions of the bike, but very obvious to me. Pictures to prove it.
I stopped going to Erik's over a year ago, and just started to visit again. They shortened some of my cables, or they were supposed to. I wished I would've saved those pictures. I decided at that time I'm just going to go the extra miles to Gear West. This year I decided to start going back to Erik's. The location is just extremely convenient for me. I'm just going to bring my business back to Gear West. I'm pretty upset of the lack of care shown toward my bike again. The guy that helped me really needs to learn customer service and get a personality. I'm sure he's a great guy, but let your customers see it too!
What started with a $16 brake bleed quickly escalated to $170 in repairs before I was smart, or lucky enough to pull the plug. From there, the recommended repairs included nearly everything on the bike except new paint. They said for maintenance or due to safety we should replace the entire drive train, tires, rear derailleur components, brake calibers and rear shock. Note: this is an opening price point Specialized bike that works great and I'm a moderate weekend rider.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Definitely will be doing more business here!!
I arrived just before the store opened for business, Cory stepped out to meet me at my VW Beetle and took me to the service counter. In five minutes my flat tire was fixed and service with a smile from everyone in the store
You can trust this team to make your bike brand-new and charge you accordingly. Like car repair, be educated and then firm in what you do and don't want fixed.
Great staff, but when I got my skis back it appears that who ever mounted the bindings had made a few mistakes. Thankfully the employees at Erik's were insanely nice and was able to resolve this with me. Thanks again its a great store with great guys.
